Xeomin is an injectable treatment that can help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on the face. It works by blocking the signals that are sent from the nerves to the muscles, which can cause them to relax and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

The Benefits of Xeomin:

Xeomin produces wildly successful results by temporarily relaxing the facial muscles, which softens static lines and prevents dynamic ones from occurring.

  • Reduction of fine lines and wrinkles: Xeomin can be used to smooth out forehead lines, wrinkles between the eyebrows, frown lines, and lines around the eyes.
  • Non-surgical: Xeomin is a non-surgical treatment that can be completed in just a few minutes.
  • Minimal downtime: Xeomin is associated with minimal to no downtime, allowing individuals to resume their normal daily activities immediately after treatment.
  • Long-lasting: Xeomin has a duration of three to four months, which is preferred by individuals seeking a wrinkle treatment with prolonged outcomes.

What to Expect:

After your Xeomin treatment, you can expect to see the results within a few days. The full effects will typically be visible within two weeks of treatment. We recommend that our clients receive Xeomin injections every three to four months to maintain the results.

After the injection, it is advised to refrain from touching or rubbing the treated area for at least four hours. Strenuous exercise and alcohol consumption should also be avoided for the first 24 hours. Avoiding exposure to the sun or extreme heat during the first few days after treatment is also recommended.

What is the difference between Botox & Xeomin?

Xeomin and Botox are both injectable treatments that use botulinum toxin to reduce wrinkles. However, they have some differences. Xeomin is a “naked” form of botulinum toxin, containing only the active ingredient. Botox contains additional proteins. Xeomin may be less likely to cause an allergic reaction due to fewer ingredients. Xeomin has a slightly slower onset of action than Botox. Results of Xeomin may last longer than Botox, requiring fewer injections over time. The choice between Xeomin and Botox depends on individual needs and preferences, and we are happy to discuss both options.

Botox (onobotulinumtoxinA)

  • Approved for therapeutic use in 1989 and cosmetic use in 2002.
  • Recommended dosing:
    GL-20
    FH-20
    CF-24
  • Time to initial onset: 5-7 days
Time to full onset: 14 days
  • Repeat treatment every 3-4 months
  • heaviest molecular weight of all neuromodulators at 900kDa; this is due to accessory proteins on the molecule
  • The presence of accessory proteins has been shown to cause an increase in resistance of the drug over time
  • The high molecular weight can cause patients to ‘feel heavy’ in the forehead after injections, if forehead is treated
  • Gives stiffer response; more ideal for patients who want significant reduction in movement or have stronger muscle movement
  • Possible side effects: injection site pain, irritation, headache, eye dryness, blurry vision, and temporary bruising

Xeomin (incobotulinumtoxinA)

  • Approved for therapeutic use in 2010 and cosmetic use in 2011
  • Recommended dosing:
    GL-20
    FH-20
    CF-24
  • Time to initial onset: 3-5 days
Time to full onset: 14 days
  • Repeat treatment every 3-4 months
  • Smallest molecular weight of all neuromodulators at 150kDa due to removal of accessory proteins on molecule
  • Considered a ‘naked’ protein due to removal of accessory proteins; decreases likelihood of resistance with repeated treatments
  • Due to the lighter molecular weight, patients are less likely to experience the heavy sensation if forehead is treated
  • Gives lighter, more natural/softer response; great for new patients or patients who are afraid to look stiff/frozen
  • Possible side effects: injection site pain, irritation, headache, eye dryness, blurry vision, and temporary bruising
